Ready for the increased compliance risk?

On May 14, 2026, the Supreme Court ruled that brokers and carriers could be held liable by a state's negligence laws–a big increase in risk. Depending on your telematics to ensure your vehicles are compliant and your drivers perform complete DVIR routines may not be enough to prove reasonable care. Comprehensive DVIR with photo evidence is the proof you need. And with Driveroo, it's fast, easy and automated.

Find out what compliance risks your ELD may be creating for you in this free instant-access guide.

INDUSTRY VOICES

The right technology could attract drivers to your fleet

Competition for drivers is steep, and one factor (besides pay, of course) that could sway them to your fleet is the right tech. Technology needs to make their jobs safer and more efficient, writes Gino Fontana, COO of Transervice Logistics Inc. The tools also need to connect seamlessly with other systems and be reliable.

None of us want a new technology or gadget that will make it harder for us to do our jobs properly,” he writes.

Fontana recommends getting drivers’ input and letting them try out the tech before you make a final decision to purchase it.

Why this matters: You know the old peer pressure phrase, “If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?” Sometimes technology feels like that—other carriers are adopting it, so I must use it too. In reality, the right tech that makes your life—and drivers’ lives—easier is what actually matters. (Fleet Owner)

ROAD REPORT

SCOTUS ruling to benefit dedicated carriers, JB Hunt says

The Supreme Court's recent decision surrounding brokerage liability could be a boon to fleets that offer dedicated operations. According to J.B. Hunt's Spencer Frazier, shippers will more actively seek out dedicated carriers to minimize risk and make sure they don’t run into legal troubles if a crash happens.

Why this matters: This could be problematic for fleets that primarily operate in the spot market. But small doesn’t mean unsafe. If carriers can showcase their positive safety record and spread their good reputation through word of mouth, they still have a chance at winning over shippers. (Transport Topics)
